Summary of current role/areas of expertise
Carl is an experienced Higher Court Advocate Solicitor with Magistrates and Police Station accreditation. Working within the Criminal, Motoring, Council Prosecutions and Licensing department in various areas of law including Crime, Road Traffic Offences, First Tier Tribunals and Financial Litigation such as, Proceeds of Crimes and Civil Forfeitures.
Carl also provides advice and representation in: Health and Safety, RSPCA and Trading Standards Investigation and Prosecutions.
Has experiences in representing taxi drivers who have been brought before local council committee tribunals, Driving Instructors appealing their removal from the register to the First Tier Tribunal and Motorists for exceptional hardship and special reason hearings. He is also on hand to provide advice regarding the medical revocation of Driving Licenses.
Career History
Whilst serving in the Armed Forces, Carl completed a Law Degree with the Open University before attending the University of Law to complete the Legal Practice Course whilst employed with Greater Manchester Police in the Road Traffic Collision Investigation Unit. Carl went on to work for a number of Criminal Defence practices and also a large banking group investigating financial claims before joining the Kirwans Criminal department.

Professional Highlight
With many professional highlights throughout his legal career including conspiracy drugs cases at the Crown Court and played a significant role in a murder trial which resulted in a not guilty verdict on the grounds of self- defence. Has represented a number of complex Proceeds of Crimes cases and successfully defended seizure and confiscation proceedings
Recent success includes:
Successfully arguing before the First Tier Tribunal that a Driver Instructor should not be removed from the register after failing 3 check tests due to underlying mental health condition.
Successfully appealing the revocation of a Pedlars Certificate by the Police.
Successfully represented a local newsagent who was being investigated by Trading Standards for selling age restricted products.
