Natalie is a criminal defence solicitor based in our Liverpool office. Natalie advises and supports clients at all stages in criminal proceedings, from police station detention through to trial at either the Crown or Magistrates’ Court. Natalie is an experienced advocate and regularly appears before both the Magistrates' and Youth Court, conducting trials or advancing mitigation, to secure the best possible sentence for clients following a guilty plea.
In recent times, Natalie has gained considerable experience defending those before the new centralised Domestic Violence Court in Liverpool.
Natalie graduated from Lancaster University, before undertaking her LPC at the College of Law in Chester. After successfully completing her training contract with a leading Liverpool firm, she qualified as a solicitor in 2013 and joined Kirwans in 2017.
Prior to becoming a solicitor, Natalie gained several years experience with a top Liverpool law firm and has defended a full range of offences from minor thefts, criminal damage and neighbour disputes to serious assaults, complex frauds and multi-handed drugs conspiracies.
Natalie has particular experience in defending those accused of serious sexual offences and her meticulous preparation, particularly of historical matters, has been praised by Counsel.
Natalie became an accredited police station advisor in 2011 and joined the Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor scheme in 2014.

Natalie’s highlight is her appointment as the Deputy Head of the Criminal Department in Kirwans.
R –v- K
Defence solicitor for client accused of domestic related assault and criminal damage. This was complicated by client’s previous convictions for perverting the course of justice. Natalie conducted the trial advocacy and secured an acquittal for the client.
R –v- L & B
Defence solicitor for two clients accused of directing homophobic at restaurant staff. Following robust cross examination of the witness’ by Natalie, both clients were acquitted after trial.
R –v- B
Defence solicitor for in victimless prosecution for s.39 Assault. Following legal submissions made by Natalie, the Magistrates agreed there was no case for client to answer after the prosecution case. The matter was therefore dismissed.
R –v- D
Defence solicitor for client accused of historic sexual offences from the 1970s within the family. Natalie conducted extensive preparation on this matter leading to the client being acquitted after Crown Court trial.
R –v- F
Defence solicitor for client arrested on suspicion of rape. Natalie attended the police station and provided robust advice to client. He was subsequently released without charge.
