Defamation law protects the reputation of an individual or an organisation from unwarranted, mistaken or untruthful attacks.
Cases can be brought under three categories:
Libel
This is defamation in the permanent form such as a newspaper article or internet posting.
Slander
Slander is defamation in a temporary form, ie. Defamation by word of mouth.
Malicious Falsehood
A false defamatory statement that has been made out of malice, regarding a business or someone’s trade.

Claimants
For claimants we are persistent and tough in the pursuit of our clients’ aims to ensure corrective action is taken following their being wronged. Many cases settle without call for litigation, but where necessary we will run a case to trial. We also consider funding cases on a no win no fee basis.
Defendants
For defendants, prevention is the best course of action, and we endeavour to reduce the number of complaints by offering advice in relation to pre-publication work. We will also review scripts to ensure that there are no potentially libellous claims.
